Travel 1 Jack Pescatello (20K) First Prize - Jack Pescatello - "Christmas Morning in Cambodia"

For it was Xmas morn on Dec 25, 2003. Ankor Wat was a destination long sought after. It took me nearly ten years to finally get there after I first saw a PBS special about the place. It was fascinating; perhaps one of the best excursions possible in Asia. And unfortunately, it is fast changing. Cambodia is opening its doors to all kinds of tourism. Ankor Wat will remain, but the peacefulness, serenity, and feeling of being alone with only the ancients is quickly disappearing. As more tourists arrive, more of the old fashioned feel leaves. I was lucky enough, with Jason Livingston, to get a glimpse of the greatest temple on Earth. The particular photo was taken shortly after sunrise at about 6:30 am. No filters or special shutter speeds were used.
