Create a new document and key in the following text: <html> <head> <title>TABLES 1</title> </head> <body> <h1 align="center">Tables 1</hi> </body> </html> Save the page into the same file as the previous document and call it tables1.html. Not only are you now ready to work, but the page link you created earlier has somewhere to go. |

So far the only colour setting we've done has been by name. There is a fairly large range of websafe colours you can call by name, but if you use the hexadecimal code you get a larger range. It is easier to remember a name than a code though so I've created a page with one colour chart defining colours by name and another defining colours by their code. if you're making something yellow then the instruction would be colour="yellow" by name or colour="#FFFFOO" by hexadecimal code. Click on this link to see the full Colour Charts. You may want to bookmark the page. |

A background colour and colours for body text and links can be set in the <body> tag. In the new page add instructions to the tag so it reads <body bgcolor="#CCCC99" text="#330033" link="#990099" vlink="#990000" alink="#FF0000"> bgcolor means background colour, alink means active link and vlink means visited link. Save and view. You haven't got any links yet but the background and text colours will show Click on the link for the double view.

Go to http://uk.geocities.com or http://www.geocities.com and follow all the prompts to take out some free webspace (and don't forget your user name and password). You will be able to put your final Website and all your coursework/lessons in your Geocities space. <!---- if youve already got space on Geocities your mission starts here ----> When you're successfully logged in to Geocities follow the links to the File Manager till you get there. As it is best to put your your own Website in the main directory, it's best to create a new folder (Geocities calls it a sub-directory and the "Create a new Sub-Directory" button is usually near the bottom of the page) to put your coursework in. Call the folder lesson. When you return to the File Manager a folder called lesson will have appeared. Double click on the folder to open it, and then upload the pages youve done so far along with any images (thats frog3.gif plus any more of your own you might have added). View completed page and TEST ANY ACTIVE LINKS. |
If you don't have an email address you can take out a free Yahoo email account linked to your free Geocities account. Follow the prompts!

You now have the choice of either saving your work to disc and uploading later, or working on line. With Geocities you can upload files, or create and edit files on the Geocities site. If you're editing an existing file on your computer and changing it on Geocities later, the best way to upload your edit is to check the file on Geocities and click edit. Your source code to be edited appears in a textbox. Select all and copy the edited file on your computer. Then select all the source code in the Geocities textbox, paste, save your changes and view. Once you get used to this it's as easy as shelling peas. WARNING When you're new to geocities you sometimes have to look around a bit to find what you're looking for. |
