SPONDYLOSIS

The spinal cord of our body is made of bony structures known as vertebraes and the between two vertebrae is called intervertebral disc.
Any disturbances in the spinal cord which causes pain, tingling numbness, stiffness is called spondylosis.

Spondylosis that occur in the neck area is - CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS and that which occurs in the back area is - LUMBAR SPONDYLOSIS.

here both the spondylysis are explained seperately.

Lumbar Spondylosis
Lumbar spondylosis is principally a disease of mid and later life. Narrowing,  thickening of the ligaments that surround the disc and those that surround the facet joints which eventually become calcified with undergoing age. This compromise of the spinal canal or of the openings through which the spinal nerves leave spondylysis occur.

Causes of Lumbar Spondylosis
Spondylosis is caused by degenerative changes within the intervertebral discs. Alterations of the alignment of the joints that connect the back of the spine  occurs. The ligaments undergo further degenerative changes, thickening and potential calcification.

Signs and Symptoms of Lumbar Spondylosis
Lumbar spondylosis reduces the normal range of motion. Back pain and back stiffness are common. Compression of the nerves can lead to pain, numbness or weakness in the legs, buttock or bowel and bladder. Abnormalities of gait can occur. Occasionally, these degenerative changes can produce instability of the spine. Alterations in the alignment of the spinal segments, or spondylolisthesis, can lead to deformity of the spine and further pain and neurological symptoms.

Cervical Spondylosis

The cervical spine is composed of 7 vertebra.  Due to considerable motion that occurs in this portion of the spine, degeneration of the bones, the discs and the joints occurs quite commonly which often leads to  development of bone spurs, or osteophytes. These osteophytes can put pressure on the spinal cord or nerves exiting the cervical spine. When the nerves that exit the spine are involved, symptoms usually involve the neck and arms.
The disease is very common and its incidence increases with advancing age.

Causes of Cervical Spondylosis
Cervical spondylosis is caused from arthritis, trauma, osteoarthritis and outgrowths of bone that sometimes occur with aging. Due to the degree of mobility of the neck and the many injuries it suffers over your lifetime, it is no wonder that almost everyone develops some degree of this disorder.

Signs and Symptoms of Cervical Spondylosis
The symptoms include neck pain and pain at the back of the head.
The head pain may radiate forwards toward the eye,  between the shoulder blades and into the shoulders. Crunching sounds may be heard or felt with movement of the neck. Dizziness sometimes occurs.
There is often pain radiating into the arm. It tends to follow the distribution of the nerve that is involved. Numbness, tingling and weakness may also develop as the nerve no longer is able to function normally. There may be loss of muscle mass and atrophy.

HOMOEOPATHY does give very nice results, for both type of spondylosis. the bony structur altered cannot be brought to normal, but certainly the rate of growth can be minimised. Unlike allopathic medicine which give pain killers as a part of treatment which in long run has adverse effects on body, homoeopathy definately gives medicines providing long lasting results without any side effects.
