| ALOPECIA Alopecia is hair loss which can with scalp disease or without scalp disease. In common words it is fungal infection of the scalp Causes for alopecia: When hair loss associated with scalp disease- it fungal infection of scalp. when without disease-the cause is usually unknown. Genetic factors, positive family history of the same disease could be considered as probable cause. Emotional factors paly an important role but is difficult to judge as it is the cause or as a result of disease. signs and symptoms: when hair loss is with scalp disease- sharp localized patches of hair loss are seen on scalp with varying degree of inflammation.there may be pus formation around some follicles. when hair loss without scalp disease- sahrp, circular patches of sudden hair loss. there may be mutiple patches. usually involves the scalp but can also involve eyebrows, eyelashes, beard, axilla and pubis area. Homoeopathy definately gives very good results. but it is very important to rule out scarring of scalp and atrophy of scalp skin. scarring is shinning surface, absence of hair, loss of skin elasticity and the area appears thickened when palpated. atrophy is wrinkling, thinning and loss of elasticity. it is important to remember that in scarred cases hair never comes back while in atrophied cases hair do come back if the cause can be controlled and treated. Also the treatment might have to be continued for a long time to remove the cause from the root. |
