New Zealand Captain Stephen Fleming has confirmed reports that Jacob Oram is unlikely to feature in the upcoming final round game of the Nations Cup against India in Sydney. "Jacob felt a twinge in his calf during his bowling spell against Pakistan, seemed alright during his innings of 37 but when he cooled down he problem came back, physio thinks he should be rested for this match...we have an good replacement though in Glenno [Sulzberger] which gives us some options when these things come up..." When asked about the chances of his team getting into the final spot, manager Jim seated next to Fleming said "We have a huge chance with the Windies and Australia playing each other and our next opponents India have been racked by injuries all tournament which means they haven't been able to find any momentum...on paper we should be favourites to get the points..." A reporter asked "Brownshirts" captain Fleming who he preferred in the final should they make it that far. "Either, because we look at it this way, we have beaten the Windies in Brisbane and would welcome the chance for a reversal of the result against our old Tasman in Adelaide, but all we can do is train hard and focus on one game at a time, whichever team that is, in this case it is India..." |
