ChYMe Facts

   In 2001 Billy Powers and Craig Jordan, while still in high school, realized they both had a dream to 

create a life for themselves through music.  The found a common ground in bands such as Manson, 

Mudvayne, and Slipknot.  They were sitting in Biochemistry one day and the teacher put a sheet on the 

overhead projector, the word Chyme was written and underlined. [CHYME- the partly digested

food in semi-liquid form as it passes from the stomach to the small intestine]  It was obvious at the

time that they had found a fitting band name.

 

It wasn't until another year later that this dream began piecing together.  One day Craig went into Hot

Topic and approached Chris Muccio (Mooch) while working asking him to join the crew.  The current

lineup was Billy on vocals, Craig on samples, and Mooch on guitar.  Two guitarists and a bassist came 

and went.  They still had lineup problems with no bassist and no drummer.  Craig took it upon himself to 

put down the sampler and pick up the bass.  They were only short one important member.

 

Eventually Billy, Craig, and Mooch moved in together with their friend Scott Grether.  Scott later introduced

them to Shaun Carpenter, a drummer looking for an aggressive band to hook up with.  Craig, Mooch, and 

Billy went to Shaun's house to give him his shot.  From there everything linked up and fit together like a jigsaw

puzzle.  For a year the four practiced together day in and day out having practiced at three separate locations.

Ever since they've been working hard and waiting for their big break.
