A very detailed list of the specific competencies needed by teachers using online learning.  The skills are divided into administrative, facilitation, technical and evaluation areas.

Booker, Di, 2000, Getting to Grips with online delivery, National Centre for vocational education research.

The need for teacher support and development is stressed.  The teachers' role becomes more supportive and less instructional.
Litvin, Margaret, 1998, Navigating the Techno-Classroom, Techniques: Making Education & Career Connections, vol. 73, issue 6, pp. 16-20. This article notes that teachers need to be "sold" on the benefits of technology and  receive training in how to use technology for teaching in order to be successful.
