Providing a set of class notes online is often the first step for teachers who would like to start developing online learning materials. Word files can be easily cut and pasted into a basic web site. Although some people may argue that this is no better than providing a set of hard copies of handouts, there are some benefits.
Online notes can be easily and cheaply provided to a wide range of people (both students and other teachers) and can be accessed anytime, anywhere. |
If the whole course material is available online, the students can look ahead to see further lessons without waiting for the teacher. |
If several teachers are teaching the same course, the site can be used to share resources and provide consistency of materials among classes. |
The notes can be organized so that connections between topics are clear. |
Over time, additional elements (like quizzes and Internet sites) can be included to add value to the notes. |
