Online Notes

Providing a set of class notes online is often the first step for teachers who would like to start developing online learning materials.  Word files can be easily cut and pasted into a basic web site.  Although some people may argue that this is no better than providing a set of hard copies of handouts, there are some benefits.

Benefits:

Online notes can be easily and cheaply provided to a wide range of people (both students and other teachers) and can be accessed anytime, anywhere.

If the whole course material is available online, the students can look ahead to see further lessons without waiting for the teacher.

If several teachers are teaching the same course, the site can be used to share resources and provide consistency of materials among classes.

The notes can be organized so that connections between topics are clear.

Over time, additional elements (like quizzes and Internet sites) can be included to add value to the notes.

Example:

This page itself is an example of an online note!

This Internal Controls web site is an example of online notes with added interactivity used for Year 3 Dubai Women's College Accounting students.
