The Story
When Queen Serenity sent the good to the future to be reborn on Earth, she also sent the bad. When Queen Beryl reached the future, she ordered her fifth and most powerful general, Quartzite, to return to Nemesis to find out what had happened there and to wait for her. When he learned of his Queen's defeat, he swore revenge.
Quartzite spent many years studying the sailor senshi and building his army. He watched them beat the Black Moon, Death Busters, Dead Moon Circus and Animates and concluded that the scouts were too strong. The general decided to wait until they grew weak from lack of fighting. Years later, after the senshi had retired and started families, Quartzite struck. He kidnapped the nine women and Tuxedo Mask, knowing that doing so would cause the Ginzuishou to shatter and leave the Earth defenseless. The Silver Crystal did shatter, but it did not leave Earth defenseless. It created a protective barrier over the original senshi, Tuxedo Mask and the Earth, unbreakable to Quartzite. In his struggles against the shield Quartzite learned of the Kinzuishou, the Golden Crystal, the Ginzuishou's opposite. If Quartzite could find the seven Umbra Crystals, he could create the Kinzuishou, destroy the barrier and conquer the world. The children of the sailor senshi have been given their mothers' senshi powers and been charged with finding the seven Rainbow Crystals and creating the Silver Crystal before Quartzite and his minions can awaken the Golden Crystal.
