Instructional Strategies

1. Let pupils listen to the story "Jack And The Beanstalk". Let them

listen to the giant as he tells the story in the "Read To Me" mode.

2. Tell pupils to go to the "Read Together" mode and read the story

page by page. Tell them to look out for the sentences on their

worksheet.

3. Get pupils to work in pairs to number the given sentences in the

order they appear in the story.

4. Pupils rewrite the sentences in the correct order on Creative Writing

paper and draw a picture of the giant with his treasures.

Story: Jack And The Beanstalk

Activity: The Giant’s Story

Number the sentences below so that they tell the giant’s story in "Jack And The Beanstalk".

Then rewrite the story in the correct order.

 

 

_____ I counted my golden coins, made the hen lay a golden egg and told

the golden harp to sing. I started to fall asleep.

_____ The harp started to sing loudly. I woke up and saw Jack with my

harp. I ran after him.

_____ I made my hen lay and my harp sing. Then I began to fall asleep.

_____ I jumped off the beanstalk before it snapped. I was safe but I was

not happy. My treasures were down in the village. I could never go

there again.

_____ One day, a beanstalk grew outside Jack’s house. Jack climbed the

beanstalk.

_____ Jack jumped off the beanstalk and chopped it with the axe.

_____ I did not hear Jack coming into my castle but I smelled him.

_____ Once, I took three treasures from a village. They were golden

coins, a hen that laid golden eggs and a golden harp that sang.

_____ Jack gave the hen back to the villagers. He climbed up the bean-

stalk again.

_____ Jack climbed down the beanstalk quickly. I was behind him. Jack

asked his mother for an axe.
