Half Computer Laboratory

1. Introduction (10 mins)

• Teacher to revise basic number patterns with the pupils.

• Teacher to explain the software "Coco Maths Project" to the pupils
• Teacher to do a demonstration on how to load the program
• Teacher to show pupils how to use the program.
• Teacher to go explain the icons in the program. The icons to be chosen for the lesson are "tour" and "Numbers". Teacher to do a demonstration and explain what is expected of them.
• Teacher to explain how to use the calculator which would appear at times.

1. Working on the software (30 mins)

• Pupils are given time to explore the software.
• First, pupils would click on the "tour" icon to explore the underwater city. They would have to click on the small fish at the bottom of the right hand corner and listen to the story as it is being told.
• Then, pupils would try out the sums in the number webs. In it, they would have to click on the numbers to form a continuous pattern. If they are correct, the small parcels at the bottom right hand corner would changed into lollipops.
• Teacher to move around the class to check and help pupils along. For pupils who finished early, they can try out the icon "supermaths"- the mad cake bomber. They would have to solve the puzzle correctly and help Coco save his cakes.

1. Conclusion (10 mins)

• Pupils to exchange views with their partners.
• Pupils to design a worksheet similar to the ones in Number Webs as a follow up activity.

1. Students type in their names when prompted.
2. Select Tours for a tour of the underwater city.
3. Click on the small fish at the bottom of the right hand corner to go to the next page.
4. Click ‘Quit’ to end the tour.
5. Select ‘Numbers’ at the main menu.
6. Select ‘Number Webs’ and level 1 (or 2 if the pupil has done level 1)
7. Pupils can attempt the sums and guess the picture that they are forming at the same time.
