Teacher gives a biscuit to the class and asks them to eat the biscuit. Teacher explains the process of the digestion. The digestion starts in the mouth chewing the biscuit. Teacher simulates the food going through the gullet and into the stomach, using a plastic bag assembly. Teacher explains the food will be digested in the small intestine. The undigested food goes into the large intestine and water is absorbed.

Instructional Activity:(35 mins):

Next, the students go into their expert groups to learn the functions of each part of the digestive system. The pupils return to their home group to share what they have learnt. Teacher will ask a few pupils to explain the digestive process.

Teacher teaches the concepts using the software Sparkle 4B using the segment on the Digestive System.

Group leaders collect Bodyland CD-ROMs for distribution to the other pupils.

Pupils to switch on the computers and use the CD-ROM according to teacher’s instructions.

Pupils will do questions from the first level of the Discovery Tower.

Teacher to remind pupils not to guess the answer if they are unsure, but to click HINT and go to the relevant segment for the required information.

Pupils can also check their score at the end of each activity.

>Conclusion: (5 mins)
