1. Pupils have already studied the concept of the different communities in nature.

2. Pupils have some prior knowledge on how to use the software

‘Animals 2.0’.

Pupils will

• know that there are different conditions in different types of habitats.
• know that the conditions in a habitat determine its community.
• practise manipulation of mouse and clicking it to access information.

Comparing the conditions of the different biomes and the plants and animals living in the community.

Decide on the necessary information required to complete the worksheets.

Classify and Categorize the data on the animals collected.

Instructional Strategies :

1. Get half of the class to sit in front before briefing starts.

2. Get class to pair up to do a Think-Pair-Share. Teacher will click on the ‘Tour’ button on the main menu (Zoo Map) and click on the globe for the biome tour. Teacher explains that from the pictures of Savanna and Tundra, pupils are to tell each other what they think the conditions, the animals and the plants are like in those biomes.

3. Get 2 pupils to share with class their views. (10 mins)

4. Teacher to demonstrate the following procedure: (10 mins)

• Click on the ‘M’ button to return to the main menu.
• Click on ‘Tundra’ on the main menu (Zoo Map) and explains that the symbol of a page refers to text, the camera symbol refers to pictures and the film symbol refers to moving pictures.
• Remind pupils that they have to pick out the necessary information that describes the conditions, animals and plants of that biome to complete their worksheet 1.
• Click on the ‘M’ button again to return to the main menu to explore the Savanna.
• Explains that they will have to do worksheet 2 after worksheet 1.
• Click on ‘M’ button and the truck for waterhole.
• Then click on an animal and the ‘View at Home Exhibit’ button (the symbol of a house) to find out where it lives and what its favourite food is. Find out the same information of 4 other animals to complete the table.
• Click on the ‘Next Exhibit’ button for the next animal.

5. IT monitors to collect the CDs and give out to pupils in their row.

6. Pupils to do their worksheets individually. Inform them the specific time they have to complete the activity. (30 mins)

7. At the end of the lesson, the IT monitors will collect back and check all CDs. Teacher to do the final checking. (5 mins)

8. Teacher to do a closure and explains that as a follow-up activity, pupils are to do a mind-map (as a group) to classify animals according to their biomes to reinforce the concept of habitat and community. (5 mins)
