Pre-requisite :

a) Pupils have learnt about the three food groups in Health Education (Primary 2 Unit 5 – We Eat Different Types of Food)

b) workbook exercises (Page 24) Pupils to collect data – energy giving food, body building food and food for protection.

 

Specific Instructional Objectives :

Pupils should be able to

  1. know what a balanced diet is
  2. know how much to eat for each of the three food groups
  3. extract relevant information from the CD-ROM – Healthy Life, Better Life.
  4. design a poster showing a balanced amount of food for breakfast or dinner and write down ingredients as menu.

    Instructional Strategies :

    1) Introduction :

    Revise the types of food and the three food groups. Revise the types of food and the importance of eating food from each of the 3 groups daily. Show pupils balanced diet chart.

     

    2) Development :

    a) Introduce pupils to courseware "Healthy Life, Better Life" and show pupils how to navigate the courseware.

    b) Pupils work individually to access "To Eat or Not to Eat" to help them to eat the right amount of food.

    Group work (4 to a group) :

    Pupils are given markers to write down a menu for breakfast or dinner. Pupils to present answer.

     

  5. Conclusion :

Pupils to complete Workbook Exercise 10, Page 25
