Pre-requisite

Pupils should know the names of the 4 basic shapes: circle, square, rectangle and triangle.

Specific Instructional Objectives

Pupils are able to identify and use the 4 basic shapes to fill up a figure.

Pupils are able to use the basic shapes to create their own pictures.

Thinking Skills

Identifying patterns and relationships. Rotate the basic shapes to fill up a given figure.

  1. Title of Courseware: Rainbow Rock
  2. Post-activity worksheets

Instructional Strategies

  1. Recall the names of the 4 basic shapes.
  2. Display a picture that is made up of squares, triangles, circles and rectangles. Get the pupils to determine the number of each basic shape used to make the picture.
  3. Get the pupils to do Challenge 1 on the computer and print the pictures they have created.
  4. Display the printouts and get the pupils to tell the class about the shapes used to make their pictures.
  5. Distribute post-activity worksheet for pupils to do. Worksheet may be done at home.
