(2) Product of a Fraction and a Whole Number

Level: Primary 5 (EM 3)

Duration: 2 periods

Pre-requisites:

Pupils should know the tables well.

Specific Instructional Objectives:

Pupils should be able to compare 2 or more fractions.

Learning & Teaching Materials:

1.Courseware:Primary Mathematics 5A: Zarc's Primary Maths Adventure

*Type : Interactive

*Characteristics: : Encouraging practice in an interactive environment which leads

to a reinforced learning.

2.Worksheet

Learning Environment:

Computer laboratory 2 (full laboratory) for roaming of software and completion of

worksheets.

Instructional Strategies:

1.Oral recapitulation of:

    1. like and unlike fractions
    2. common multiples
    3. improper fractions
    4. addition of fractions
    5. comparing improper fraction with mixed numbers.

2.Pupils to get into the software.

3.Teacher to remind pupils to follow instructions accordingly and carefully.

4.Teacher to give pupils time to complete the sums.

5.Pupils to do a revision worksheet on comparison of fractions if time permits. If not,

worksheet is to be done as homework.
