Computer laboratory with 40 multi – media computers

1. Trigger Activity: (10 min)

Pupils recite the rhyme "Dinosaur Pudding Dance." Pg 46

Discuss prehistoric animals.

2. Lesson Development: (60 min)

Pupils read the story " The Cockroach Which Challenged The Dinosaur"

a) In their cooperative groups of four talk about :

• the part of the story they like most and why they like it
• any part of the story which puzzled them and ask group members to explain to them
• whether it is a real or imaginary story and why they think it is so

2. Think about (class)

• whether Cockroach was right to challenge Tyrannosaurus
• whether Saltopus and Pterandon were right to tell Tyrannosaurus what

Cockroach said about him

• whether Tyrannosaurus deserved to die

Pupils create a new ending for the story using Story Book Weaver Deluxe

Pupils select Dino Park..

Conclusion: (20min)

Pupils take turns to read their writing in the "Author’s Chair"

The audience tell what they like about the ending or what they feel could be improved and how.
