Specific Instructional Objectives

  1. To draw pupils’ attention to the different life-styles of city folks and country folks : e.g. City mouse and Country mouse.
  2. To have pupils to reorder the sequence of a story.
  3. To guide pupils to write a parallel story involving themselves and a friend or cousin from a rural place

Instructional Strategies

  1. Pupils to share with the class their own experience / observation on any rural places e.g. on trips oversea, farms visits, etc.
  2. Pupils to listen to the classic version of the story.
  3. Each pupil will be given a CD-Rom to view and listen .
  4. Pupils to identify and spot the differences between things/items with life in the city and countryside.
  5. Pupils to classify them in the worksheet according to their columns.
  6. e.g. crowded quiet

    unsafe peaceful

    exciting beautiful

    busy long walks

    animals green fields

    rich food treees and flowers

    buses, cars crickets, owls

  7. Pupils in their group to select one of the following topics to write a story based on their findings and illustrate with pictures for presentation.

e.g. 1. Homes

2. Common scenes –in the city / in the countryside.

3. Vehicles

4. Types of places for relaxation

5. Dressing
