Pre-requisites : Pupils know the concept of groups and sets.

Pupils know the multiplication sign.

Specific Instructional Objectives : Pupils will reinforce the concept of multiplication in a fun way using games and activities.

Learning & Teaching Materials :

  1. Courseware : Math Blaster ( In Search of Spot)

 

Learning Environment : Half-computer lab ( Pair Work)

Instructional Strategies :

  1. Demonstrate to pupils how to get into the software from the Start Menu.
  2. Teach pupils to log on by signing in and follow instructions accordingly.
  3. Select the first activity "TrashZapper" and show pupils how to complete the sums and click on the trash to convert it to fuel.
  4. Allow pupils to begin on Level 1 for Multiplication (subject) and allocate a 5-minute time limit on each level (there are 6 levels of difficulty)
  5. Instruct pupils to change to another activity "Math Blaster" where the spaceboy has to be lifted into the spaceship at the correct answer without knocking on the trash.
  6. Encourage pupils to complete up to level 6 for each activity.
  7. Bonus points will be awarded if the sums are all correctly completed.
  8. Conclude the game by declaring the pair as the winner who has completed both games up to Level 6.
  9. Pupils then do a revision worksheet on multiplication to reinforce the multiplication tables.
