Instructional Strategies
- Arouse the interest of pupils pertaining to Our Skeleton by posing the following questions in succession:
- What are these hard parts that are found in your body? (Get pupils to feel
by pressing hard on their heads and legs.)
- Do you think there are many bones in our body? (To get pupils to realise
that there are many bones of different shapes and sizes.)
- Now you know that our body has many bones. These bones are joined
together to form a framework. What is the name given to this framework?
(Lead pupils into giving the word ‘skeleton’.)
- Introduce the courseware, Welcome to Bodyland, to pupils at this juncture.
3. Tell pupils that they can find out the answers easily on their own from the
courseware. Show pupils how to get into "Bony Boulevard" of the
courseware.
- Inform pupils to click on the "Open Book" icon to find out more about the
skeleton.
- Instruct pupils to complete Worksheet 1 based on the courseware. Give pupils about 20 minutes to complete the worksheet.
- Gather pupils to the front after they have completed Worksheet 1. Get them to show how they move parts of their body. Get pupils to realise that joints are involved in these actions.
- Then ask pupils to name a few joints that they are familiar with e.g. elbow, knee, neck and finger joints.
- Inform pupils to complete Worksheet in 5 minutes.
- Summarise by going over the answers to Worksheets 1 and 2.
