Instructional Strategies

Introduction (10mins)

  1. Introduce pupils to the software, Word City and demonstrate one of the activities in the CD-ROM to show them how to navigate the software.
  2. Pupils will remember the words when it flashes on screen, or listen to the word spoken and look at the meaning of the sentence. Type the word in the space provided on the screen, and then press on the keyboard after each word.

Activity (15mins)

Pupils will start the game by trapping the snorkeler before it can get to the edge of the Word City. With each correct answer to a word problem, they will get 3 robot stamps in the shield. Each set of stamps starts at the block they select and goes in the direction they select with the arrow in the middle of the game.

 

Conclusion (5mins)

Pupils will write down the words they have misspelled or words that they don’t know and their score on the worksheet provided.
