A letter from Mr. Jim Smith (Lance's dad)

I have known David Lance Smith for 23 years and let me say it is a pleasure to say he is my son. Yes, I am Lance's dad and I have never written to anyone or answered in any public way about Lance, until tonight. I was at Fan Fair today watching people ask for his autograph and he stayed there for about four hours signing...I want to personally thank every person that patiently waited in line for his autograph. He might be the host on the show, but without people like all of you, the show doesn't exist.

One last thing, if you ever see Lance out, speak to him.  He is in life, like what you see on t.v. He is very down to Earth and loves people and loves his family and most of all he loves God.

If you ever by chance come to this website and happen upon this page, I wanted to thank you for sharing your kind and encouraging words with us. You did not have to take the time to say anything to the fans and yet, you did. It was a nice little surprise, and I thank you for it. It is obvious that you love your son with all your heart. For that I am thankful, as I am sure it is part of the reason he has become the caring person he is. So thanks once again and God bless.
