While I had heard before of the Westboro Baptist Church and her picketing ministry, it wasn�t until I stumbled into their website that I sadly realized how these people really are.
Their URL is God Hates Fags.Com and it only gets worse and since the internet is all about information, I intend on using the truth (and not taking Biblical scriptures out of context except to make a ludicrous or exagerated point) to bringing down this website. I will address their hate point to point and encourage the rest of the world into action that will crash their servers or otherwise make maintaining the site so impractical that they will close it down. The simple fact that they have chosen this URL is testament enough to their mindset and how they have twisted the preaching�s of Jesus Christ into something so mean and vicious that it�s very nature is contrary to the man whose beliefs of peace and love of fellow man they claim to follow.
The thing that truly amazes me is their certainty that they are right and that the rest of the world is so wrong. And I�m not alone. My best friend (who is a strong Catholic and Republican, go figure) and many others who follow Judeo-Christian beliefs were incredulous that a church would actually make such statements.
Before I start my campaign against this destructive idea and the people who have perverted their own teachings, I should establish what my beliefs are:
First of all, I am heterosexual (does that mean that the parishioners of Westboro Baptist Church don�t hate me?). I am also a Minister of the Universal Life Church, having been legally ordained by the state of California, my own spiritual beliefs are not Judeo-Christian though I think the message of peace and brotherly love.
On Westboros home page there is a link to their FAQs page that answers questions people may have regarding them and I will begin by addressing these one item at a time, all 35 of them. And just to make sure that I�m accurate and fair, I intend to consult with several theologians regarding what I say in response to the �answers� that the folks of Wetsboro provide on their page. Where they quote the Bible to make their myopic points, I will use the same Bible to dispel their lies and throw some other verses back at them that may rattle their cage a bit.
One last thing; you may ask what do I hope to accomplish beyond putting this hate site six feet under? I want to illustrate that in this country hate will not be tolerated and every effort will be made to expose the lies for what they are. That it is behavior that is not only contradictory to the very religion they claim to follow but more important, that it is contrary to the very ideals of the United States of America. And while they would try to argue this point, the U.S. has a separation between church and state and that even if we agree with all of their rhetoric, it is not law and never can be. Any law that is merely based on a Christian doctrine is by it�s very nature un-Constitutinal, such as any �reproductive rights� legislation.
So visit often and see what new challenges I face in the battle against lies, hypocracy and hatred so pure that the milita, Aryan Nation, Nazi, KKK are taking notes.
