INTRODUCTION
Many Christians do not have a clear
understanding of the Godhead and are perplexed by it. They should not feel embarrassed about this
dilemma because the relationship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to one
another is not easy to understand. Even the disciples of Jesus Christ did not
understand it. Consider the conversation
between the Lord Jesus and Philip. "Philip said to Him, 'Lord, show us the Father, and it
is sufficient for us.' Jesus said to him, 'Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen
Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show 'is
the Father'?" (Jn.14:8-9). If the Lord's disciple could not
fully understand the Godhead relationship, then is it any wonder that today's
Christians can also be the same?
Some ministers
avoid discussing the Godhead relationship because they think that it is a
mystery that cannot be explained.
"And without
controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed
on in the world, received up into glory." (1 Tim. 3:16)
Paul wrote about "the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from
generations, but now has been revealed to His saints." (Col.
1:26). The Godhead relationship is no
longer a mystery. The apostle John
wrote: "And
we know that the Son of God' has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him
who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ.
This is the True God and eternal life." (1 Jn. 5:20) We
can now have an understanding of the Son of God that we may know Him who is
true. In this study we use a simple language and avoid theological terms. Our
objective is to have as many people as possible understand the Godhead and
accept the Lord Jesus Christ as the One True God.
Our Lord prayed to
the Father, "And
this is eternal life, that they may know You, the Only
True God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." (Jn. 17:3) We hope that this prayer will be fulfilled
in your life as you go through this web site.
May God bless you
