| This series 3 was built on a LHd Export six-cylinder utility chassis number, but has every feature of a 1-ton of the same age. ENV axles, 1-ton gearbox, extended spring hangers etc are all there. It seems Land-Rover were not overly fastidious with chassis numbering, especially for export markets. The vehicle was used by the Portugese fire service as a light fire tender.The bottom photo shows the vehicle in-service alongside a number of other interesting machines. It seems the Portugese were keen on using the 1-ton as a fire tender. |
