There is a world I can see in my dreams. It is a world of reality. It is probably more real than the air you are breathing right now, and even now it haunts me. This world is not a creation of my mind, rather my mind is its offspring. In this place I wander, seemingly endlessly, but I do not travel alone. There and many fellow travelers along my route, but too often I can do nothing for them but greet them and continue on my way.I also have a friend with me, but he is not a wanderer like the rest of them. During the day I am strengthen by his presence. At night he lights my way.
In this world there is no path to follow, and no one can tell where they are going. Frightfully, the days and nights are not constant; they change at random, leaving many travelers lost and blind. Many die. None can see throught the darkness. It is as cold as death, as black as the empty night's sky. Still worse, evil creatures dwell amongst its shadowy cover. My friends and advesaries alike are swallowed by this darkness. They are gone. Forever.
The darkness doesn't hurt me though, because my companion can see through the shadows. The evil beings obey him and flee from his presence and curse at him from a distance. In this way, we walk through the darkness.Sometimes we find a fellow traveler still living in the fog of death. He is trembling with fear. He cannot see my companion, but he can see the light, the brilliant light. He runs toward us, hobbling because the darkness tortures him physically.
When he reaches us, he is overjoyed by the peace he finds. He asks me how all this is possible. In response, I introduce him to my friend. In an instant, his face transforms from joy to sorrow. In a grave sigh of unbelief, he silently walks away from us. He returns to the darkness, choosing to be blind and scorched rather than believe in the unseen.
I am troubled by the pain I know they feel, but I am ever comforted by my companion. Still, there are times of great joy in this otherwise desolate place. For, every now and then, a fellow traveler does not reject the light. Instead, he embraces it, and gains the sight to truely see. He becomes like me. In this fashion I wander constantly. Though it is an often troubling journey, I will one day leave the fog behind and enter into the kingdom of light my friend has told me of. This alone fuels my journey, one step at a time.
The Darkness
Back
The Unknown World

I was musing one day, and I wrote this. It actually became the inspiration for my song "Live In This Place"

So, I hope you enjoy this short little dive into the depths of my mind.
