| Archive for 9/7/2004: Ok, so it's been a while. Did you miss me? Lets see, what have I been up to all summer? I spent a lot of times hanging out with my friends, spent a lot of time working, and most of the rest of it sleeping and wasting away my summer. My friends and I hung out on numerous occasions, everything form going to six flags, to watching the olympics, to sitting on the roof of my car watching the stars. It's been a lot of fun, and I wish it didn't have to end. Well, it doesn't really, but we have to tone it down for the school year. Work has stayed the same, I got $12,000 worth of scholarships for UMBC from CT, but I'll probably only use $6,000 of it before I'm finished with school. Our softball team came in last place amongst the three resturants, but in the playoff game we almost won, and we really played like a team. It was awesome to see... quite a bonding experience too. I'm probably going to stick around there for the fall, because I can get the hours I want, because it's not a bad work environment nor is it one I'd have to get used to, and I like the residents. I say it's a nice environment, but I only mean that when people aren't stealing money and paychecks out of my backpack! Things have really changed too since I last updated. I left a whole page of lyrics last time, and I'm sure you know what they were talking about. I don't really feel like putting the facts or happening behind that up here on the internet... suffice to say if you don't already know, you don't need to. I've been doing a lot of reading recently though, and this whole experience has really changed the way I'm seeing the world. What else can I say? Ok, so now I am UMBC, having started last Wednesday. I'm taking Philosophy of Biology, American Pragmatism, German semester 3, and The French Revolution. It'll be quite interesting. I think if I still want to get a Philosophy major, I'll know at the end of this year. Mom keeps asking me why I want that, since Philosophy is "contrary to the Bible". I say it's not, since I have never had someone tell me a certain worldview is a correct one. If anything I think that perhaps I will be challenged to understand my faith better through these classes. And my faith certainly has been something I have been dealing with right now. I really cannot say whats exactly going on with me at the moment, but everything just seems to be leading me to re-evaluate who I am and who I need to be. I just need to do a better job listening to God. I need to turn the music down perhaps, or let it fade away... All that said, and only now am I beginning. the future is coming, and I have no idea what it holds. It'll be an interesting ride, one with a lot of up's and down's. A lot like a roller coaster, with God's love and mercy as the harness. I guess I'll see you when the ride stops! -Nic- ~Don't expect many further updates, but I'll see what I can do~ |
