Ian's Sunset
They say that water droplets
And tiny particles of dust
Create sunsets -
That light scatters and reflects against the particles
As the sun lowers in the sky,
Creating colors of red, pink or orange.
But some of us know better.
We perceive the hand of the artist
In the splays of vivid color
Splashed against the blue canvas of the sky.
And we recognize the work of an angel
When we see it.
The beautiful majesty of the artist's work
Envelopes our being,
Speaks to our heart,
Touches our soul.
And we feel for a brief moment
That we have communed with heaven.
