Hey there girl,

Hmm, you guys traded digits for a reason, so I would recommend really going off of that -- what drew you guys together in the first place? If it's a school activity or something, then you guys can start out the conversation by talking about that and then doing to whatever else comes to mind during the rest of the conversation. Or just simply pick up the phone, call him, and immediately start telling him about your day. It doesn't necessarily have to be the most interesting/shocking news, just bits about how your day went and stuff like that. I know couples that do this on a regular basis, and it really helps them to just relax and get to know each other better. It could even be something simple, like "Yeah, math class was a real pain today because the teacher was so freakin' boring" and that could cue him to say something like, "Hh I know what you mean ... in history today, Mr. Smith wouldn't shut up about blah blah blah", etc. Just stick to basic topics that you guys could just ease into, and the conversation should start flowing.

Just remember that it's okay to have a lull in the conversation (as long as it's not a 5-min dead silence or anything like that). You could just laugh it off, maybe even say, "Wow. Don't you just love awkward, uncomfortable silences? People might think we've never even met each other or something!" Just joke around and break the ice. He's interested in you, after all!  Ask him about that project he's working on, what you guys were like as kids, who your favorite band is and why ... anything goes. And make sure you do stuff together, so that you can build memories and have even more to talk about! And those inside jokes will be priceless, too.

Just let it flow,

Odessa,

I just met this really fine guy; he's in one of my classes.  We got each other's phone numbers, but I freaked out when I called him b/c I couldn't think of anything to say. I really want to get to know him better.  Got advice?
