Egypt 2001
Pyramids, temples and the Red Sea began in Luxor with the inspection of the graves in the valley of the kings, the terrace temple of the only Pharaonin Hatschepsut, the gigantic Memnon Kolosse, as well as the fascinating temple plants of Karnak and Luxor. In Cairo I visited the Egyptian museum, the Citadelle and the Mohamed Ali mosque, the world-famous pyramids of Gizeh and the majestic sphinx. Subsequently, a relaxing bath stay of two days at the crystal-clear water of the Red Sea in Hurghada was intended.Day 1: Frankfurt - Luxor
Flight to Luxor from Frankfurt / Main. After the arrival in Luxor, transfer to the hotel where the local guide awaits the group (3 persons in total) with a cocktail drink to explain the coming days in Luxor. In the evening we enjoy a nice cup of tea between the locals after we drive by horse and carriage through the local market of Luxor. We also visit a papyrus institut where the production of papyrus is shown.
Day 2: Luxor
After enjoying the breakfast we visit Theben west, the valley of the kings where three tombs could be enteredas well as the temple of the Hatschepsut and the Memnon Koloss. The lunch we take in a restaurant in Luxor. In the afternoon a detailed tour through the impressing Luxor and Karnak temples where everything is explained in detail. In the evening we enjoy a nice cup of tea after a ride with
Day 3: Luxor - Cairo
In the morning, flight with Egypt Air from Luxor to Cairo. In Cairo a new local guide pics await us at the airport. In the afternoon visiting the Citadelle and the Mohammed Ali mosque where a detailed explanation of the relegion was done by our tourguide. We do not stay in Cairo but more next to Gizeh in a nice four star resort. The pyramids of Gizeh could be seen from a platform on top of the main building of the resort.
Day 4: Cairo
After breakfirst first thing is on the program today is a visit of the world-famous pyramids of Gizeh and the majestic sphinx. Being there early in the morning allows us to enjoy the sight without masses of tourist. After visiting the pyramids we get a taxi to drive to Cairo for visiting the Egyptian museum where our guide provides us with detailed information of the most important artifacts. Of course the famous golden mask of tutankhamun.
Day 5: Cairo - Hurghada
Bus travel from Cairo to Hurghada. After arriving in Hurghada the rest of the day was for relaxing and enjoying sunbathing at the beach just one meter away from my balkony door.
Day 6 and 7: Hurghada
Two days stay at the crystal-clear water of the Red Sea in Hurghada. Enjoying sun and relaxing.
Day 8: Hurghada - Frankfurt
Return flight to Frankfurt from Hurghada
