The next day after work I log back one. Zero messages. That's ok, only been on one day, and part of that day was wasted waiting for people to approve my profile. I check out the chat site which I'm not terribly impressed with. It has two modes, you get everything way too late, or everything flies by so fast you can't read. Whatever. The next day I do some more exploring, and find that I still have 0 message, but they also have a cool thing that tells you how many people browsed your profile. Also zero. Ok, that hurts, but I'm ok, I paid for the service, I'm going to try and use it. I reworked my profile some and changed some pictures to be more flattering (one of me rock climbing, another of me white water rafting).
The next day, I have a message! Woohoo! I'm going to go ahead and just include the whole thing here, including my replies. Oh, and I was a little thrown off because the original message came from a guys account, but that's explained in the first letter.

My bedroom exercise has been put off for a while since I have been single for the past five months. Well, I am pretty much looking for fun. I must admit, I was a little frightened to read this email. Not just because your the first person to write me, but because the picture of Dave scared me. Not saying he's probably not a good looking guy or anything like that, just thought "Just my luck, I'm going to get hit on by some gay guy...". So anyway, being your first time on the site is ok, I've been on the site about 3 days now. A little too intimidated to jump in the chat rooms right now, not to mention a little too busy, my roomate is moving out this weekend so lots of stuff to move around. A little shocked to find out exactly how much stuff my roomate owned and how little of it was mine. Seems like the only thing I have time for outside of work and moving lately is the gym. I don't want to fool you into thinking I'm in great shape. I am working out 5 times a week at the gym, swimming 3 times a week for 1km, then running and lifting the other 2 days, and I've been doing it for about a year now. (well the 3 times swimming is new as of abotu a month ago), but I still feel like I have a LONG way to go before I think I'm doing ok. My "bedroom excercise" is not going nearly as well as I really haven't dated anyone in a little over a year. One that I fell in love with who wasn't in love with me, and the other who fell in love with me and I didn't fall in love with her. Yah, its always the way. So what do you do if this is a friend from works account?

Ok, even me wanting to believe this knew something was wrong right away. DeprivedWomen.com? She posted personal info such as a phone # on it? I read it again. It's very generic. Very well written, but to me it looks like just a clever piece of social engineering. There isn't a direct reply to anything I said. Finally the disclaimer at the bottom is a little bothersome. I think it's a form letter. I'm kind of upset, and even a little humiliated, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's real and I'm just being too anal. Alright, if it's not real, I know how to ferrit it out. I send another message back to the original address.

Identical in everyway, with one exception. My first email was from Jill Anderson, my second Email was from Jill Knight. I'm really pissed now, but what can I do, I suspect the person who originally sent the mail doesn't know he sent it although I contemplate all kinds of revenge on his site. I'll feel better in the morning.
Zero messages, zero people have viewed your profile. Sigh. No one has even looked yet. I figure it's because the guys outnumber the girls pretty heavily and that they can afford to sit back and wait to be contacted. I try some new strategies. I post on the message board and spend some time in the chat room, hoping that someone will be curious enough about what I say to at least take a look. I also go one step further. I found someone I think is kind of cute who is listed as a new member in Colorado Springs. I send them a message. I'd repost the message here, but I sent it directly from my profile and I don't have it stored anywhere. I do have the reply.

I had a sinking feeling when I got to the 'looking to definitely become intimate with me' prat. My message was pretty vague and instantly this person wants to be intimate with me, but it's the disclaimer that catches me off guard. It's the same disclaimer. Word for word other than the url. More spam, I've been fooled again by more advertising. I take one more look at my profile.
