Relativity

How it works and why no one cares

Assume person A travels to point Y from point X in the newly developed space ship R. R can travel at 70% the speed of light. It will take A 114 years earth time to reach point y where only 3 years will pass for A within the ship. Within 1 year after Ship R left, company O designs a ship S which can now travel at 75% the speed of light. At this speed, pilot B will reach point Y in only 57 years. Now had company N thought about Company O, it would never have sent A in R to Y in the first place. So let's say now that another year later company P designs ship J which will reach Y in 10 years. As this happens, company P will reach point Y about 46 years before company O and 103 years before Company N by which time Company N will be little more than a footnote in history and the pilot will be forced to flip hamburgers for a living at a 100 year old colony founded by company Q who designed a faster ship which arrived shortly after it left, right behind the other 30 million people who were the last to leave and the first to arrive. Now as developers realize this and see if they wait just a little longer for the technology, they might get to point Y quicker and start a fast food franchise before the person just before them.
The final effect of Technologies rapid advancement is that it will soon become obsolete and Company N will be forced to make stone tires for company O who was smart enough to burn down all of it's offices in order to speed up their regression into the stone age where they now own the largest fast food franchise on the planet. In turn they've completed their goal of being the first to advance to a higher order in space travel.
