When I think of Jesus and what He wants from me My heart and soul looks back and pictures that cross on Calvary Back when Jesus walked with many His heart so strong and wise How he walked with those both great and small and brought the truth before their eyes ************ When I think of Jesus and how he was, I think of wisdom and of strength No matter how many enemies walked in front of him His kind words were graciously offered to them at great lengths He did not fight his enemies with fists or anger, rather he wrapped them in his kind words and in his arms For Jesus himself was the spirit of love and expressed this without harm ***************** When I think of Jesus and His great big heart, I think of forgiveness like we've never known For when many of men want to judge quickly, Jesus showed that forgiveness and mercy are far better than casting stones When I think of Jesus and how he was, I see a Shepard who leads His sheep Through many a valleys far and wide, picking them up when the hills became too steep ************* When the pain and tears and times were rough, Jesus promised He would not let go For His arms are much stronger than ours, and its through tests in life that help us to grow When I think back to the cross and Calvary, I picture Jesus standing at an open door With a caring look deep in his eyes, and the soft words telling us if we enter He'll show us all that He has in store The more I think of Jesus, the more I want to be like Him I think back on that day I knocked on His door and how His spirit freed me from all life's sin ************* He handed over His life for me and in return I want to do the same I want to hand him my heart, my hurts and all my fears my whole world and all it contains When I picture Jesus gentle face, I think of peace and hope within His eyes Of a caring Father who knows what's best for us, a Saviour who is very wise For He is the great instructor, His word is our guide for life today If we ask Him to come into our lives, the door remains opened to blessings when we come to Him and pray ************ Jesus word tells us He will never forsake us, He won't ever walk away When I look back at my life and picture Jesus, it helps me to focus on Him more and more each day He led many a men and women, and I trust Him to lead me through it all When I think that I might stumble, He picks me up before I fall The more I think of Jesus, I trust Him with all my might For faith is believing that Jesus is real, even though He is not in sight He is the gentle shepard, our armour and our sword He died on that cross on Calvary, His spirit continues to reign forever more *************** You do not have to be perfect for Jesus to love you His love is not like man When you are down and weary, it's Jesus who understands When you are facing battles in your life, just stay focused and ask Him to lead Let your requests be placed before His throne, let Him to know you trust and believe Let the Saviour speak to your soul and mind, and the Shepard will show you the way When I think of Jesus and how He was back then, I can see where He is the same today **************** On Calvary Jesus looked up to the heavens and out of love he wept for the world so true His eyes were focused upon the Father, when he cried out, "Forgive them for they know not what they do." When I shut the door on Jesus, I picture a Father who loves me and weeps For I only have myself to blame when the door is opened to him yet I do not seek When I take a closer look at Jesus, I see a Father and a friend Someone who walks beside me always, even unto the very end **************** Poetry By Laura Kocher Copyright� 2003 |
