Meeting a Centuar

It was a beautiful day for a walk in the country. The rain that morning made everything fresh and crisp. I was heading to an appointment when I saw a beautiful field just calling my name. Therefore, I decided to steal the time to enjoy this wonderful weather. I pulled over and put the car in park. I couldnt resist the temptation to go barefoot, so I left my shoes in the car and started walking through the field. The wetness in the tall grasses was wonderful on my feet and legs, the crispness to the air felt great in my lungs. Oh, how I loved the outdoors after a rain. I stopped in the middle of the field to just enjoy the feel of it all. I closed my eyes and inhaled the scents.

Suddenly, I heard a horse approach me from behind. I spun around as it skidded to a halt before me. This was no horse; it was half man. I didnt know what to do. Should I run? How could I outrun a half horse? I decided to see what he wanted. I looked up into his eyes, just to see they were full of sadness. I lost my initial fear and felt a tug at my heart.

Whats wrong? I asked.

Its my girlfriend, he said. Actually, I will never understand the female centaurs.

Why? I inquired.

I was trying to tell her how beautiful it is here. I wanted her to come with me to enjoy this weather, he explained. But, no. She wouldnt hear of it. 'I need a proper dress she says. I cant go out all exposed like this.'

Well, most women dont want to expose their breasts, so I understand where shes coming from, I replied.

Well, I got a human friend to go get her the best dress money can buy, He continued, and I got it altered to fit her right, but it wasnt good enough. My hind quarters hang out she complained.

Well, I dont know what to tell you, but she does have a point, I mumbled, feeling confused.

He went on to explain, So, I send my friend to get extra fabric to match the dress, so I can get the dress altered to cover her hind quarters, and do you know what she says then? He looks at me with eyes full of anger.

I step back and answer timidly, No.

She tells me it makes her hind quarters look fat! Can you believe that? he sounded exasperated. I stifled a giggle. And humans wonder why no one has ever seen one of our females! Females! Ill never understand them! With that he galloped off with a shake of his head.

I couldnt believe what I had just witnessed. I knew no one would believe me, so I kept my story secret, but at least now I knew where all the female centaurs are. I couldnt help but chuckle at how much like human women they really were.
