| **Faith** It was almost 7:00 the next morning and Hope was still not home. I was beginning to get worried about her. She hadn't called or anything. Zachary thought that I was overreacting. "She's how old? 27? Let her do what she wants. God knows she needs to find a guy...Her clock is ticking." Zach told me. I sighed and went to the window, peeking through the curtains once again to see if her car drove up. "I know," I said as I did this, "But she could have at least called or something." "Calm down..." Zach said. When he saw that I couldn't her added, "God, if you're so worried then why don't you just call her cell phone?" "Zachary, you are so right. Why did I not think of that?" I asked him as I picked up the phone. "Because you're too busy freaking out about her to think." Zach told me. I rolled my eyes and dialed Hope's cell phone number. The phone rang four times before someone picked up. "Hello?" A familiar male voice asked. "Uh, yeah...who's this?" I asked him. "Who's this?" He asked me. "I asked you." I told him. "This is AJ. If you want Hope, well, she's in the shower." My jaw dropped. I cleared my throat and asked, "You're name is AJ?" "Yeah...so?" "So...this is Faith." I answered him angrily. There was silence. "Well," I asked, "What do you have to say for yourself, AJ?" "Uh, um...Faith who?" He asked. "You know very well who I am. What the he-" I took a deep breath, "What are you doing?" I hissed. Since he couldn't lie about it anymore, AJ obviously decided to go for the truth. "I'm just having a little fun. YOu know how it is." He said. "Actually no, I don't know how it is. Why don't you explain it to me," I told him, "Why don't you explain to me why you think that it's okay to go out and mess around with somebody, especially my sister and call it 'just having a little fun'." I demanded. "First of all, I didn't know she was your sister. Second, we aren't even serious, okay? We haven't even...nevermind." "What? Had sex? That's right, we haven't. And I'm glad that we haven't. Especially now that I know you would have done something like this to me." I told him, "And how can you say that we weren't serious? Like I didn't mean anything to you. I mean, you told me that you loved me!" "And you didn't say anything back." He told me. "That's because unlike you I only say it when I mean it." I retorted right before hanging up the phone and throwing it onto the couch. I noticed that Zach was no longer in the room. But he probably heard everything and was now thinking of ways that he could rub this in my face. He knew, he knew the second that he met AJ that he was no good. I heard him asking those questions like, "How many other chicks are you banging?" How did he always know? |
