Camping:
Closest: Camping is available on site at the venue, Zeal from 18:00, Saturday, July 9th - 7:00am, Sunday July 10th. Camping fees are 1500 yen per person with access to indoor toilet facilities. This is the best option if you plan to drink and cannot or do not want to drive.
Within about 5km-15km...
Aoshima Beach- This spot is the next closest location to Zeal and offers free camping on the sand or on the grass right along this public surfing beach, but only limited parking is available. An onsen is located next door at the luxurious Aoshima Palm Beach Hotel for 1000 yen/ person.
Kisakihama Beach- a bit farther away but more consistent surf breaks. This long stretch of beach has free public outdoor showers, public toilets and ample parking. It's a great place to catch the first morning surf.
Hotels & Ryokans:
Marine Lodge- Around the corner from Aoshima Train Station and about 10km from Zeal. This small ryokan offers rooms for about 3000yen each. If you can arrange to bring 10 or more people and make an advanced reservation, a special discount of 500- 1000yen off might be arranged if you speak Japanese, are incredibly kind and if there is availability.
Aoshima Palm Beach Hotel -
Located on Aoshima Beach, a great vacation spot. Hotel guests receive free
admission to the amusement park (Kodom-no-Kuni). Both Western and Japanese style
rooms. 9,200-12,800 yen per person. (Rates vary during peak season and holidays)
