Tim was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia on November 24th, 2000. I took him to the vet on that day because Tim had a little cold. I had a sneaking suspicion that it was FeLV, so I had the vet do a blood test. I was torn when the test came up positive. What could I do for Tim? Would it be best to put him to sleep right then and there and save him the suffering? A voice inside told me no. I told the vet I would like to keep him, and that I would keep him isolated from other cats. Tim is currently only taking Amoxicyllin for the upper respiratory infection, but I hope to discover other meds that may help keep his immune system intact, and keep Tim healthy and happy and here with me for as long as I can. These pages will document my search and hopefully put out more information on this tragic disease.
Tim's current condition is improved but of course, not as healthy as he once was. He has a high body temperature (about two degrees above normal) and he has a stuffy nose. But the good news is that his lungs are clear and his breathing is normal. He has a big fat belly and is eating and drinking well. He seems comfortable and happy. |
