VARIOUS WORDS/PHRASES:

ADONAI...Lord in Hebrew, or HaShaem (The Name), used in place of YHVH; (which is not pronounced
out of respect). L-rd and G-d are sometimes written in English without vowels, to observe the
commandment: Thou shalt take not the Name of the YHVH thy G-d in vain, causing one to reflect on
this when writing or when seen in print. .
ALIYAH...'Going up' making first visit to Eretz Yisrael, pilgrimage.
ASHKENAZI...Jewish person from Central/Western European origion.
