| Shabbat Evening / Havdalah Service & Communion: On the conclusion of a Festival that falls on a week day, the first paragraph, and the blessings over the aromatic spices and the candlelight, are omitted. Havdalah, marking the distinction between holy and profane, is chanted in the home after dark at the conclusion of the Sabbath or of a Festival while holding a cup of wine in the right hand, (filled to overflowing). {Light Candle} . Hinae Ael Y'shu-atee, evtach v'lo efchad, kee ahzee v'zimrat Yah YHVH, vay-hee lee leeshua. Ush-avtem mieim b'sason mima-ie-nae ha-Y'shu-ah. la-YHVH ha-Y'shu-ah al amcha birchatecha sela. YHVH ts'va-ot imanu, misgav lanu Elohae Ya'akov sela. YHVH ts'va-ot, ashray adam botae-ach bach YHVH hoshee-ah, haMelech ya'anaenu v'yom koraenu. La-y'hudeem hai-tah orah v'simchah v'sason veekar. Kaen tih-yeh lanu. Kos Y'shu-ot esah, uv-shaem YHVH ekrah. . Behold, God is my Salvation, I trust and am not afraid; for the YHVH my God is my strength and song, and He is become my Salvation. Therefore with joy shall you draw water from the well of Salvation. Thine, O YHVH, is Salvation; Thy blessing be on Thy people. Selah. YHVH of hosts, be with us, God of Jacob, be our high refuge. Selah. YHVH of Hosts, happy is the man who trusts in Thee. YHVH, Save us, may the King answer us on the day when we call. The Jews had light and gladness, joy and honor. So may it be with us. I will lift up the cup of Salvation and proclaim the Name of YHVH. Lifting the glass of wine, but not drinking from it: {all sing}: Baruch Atah YHVH, Elohaenu Melech ha-olam, borae pree hagafen. . Blessed art Thou, O YHVH our God, King of the universe, who creates the fruit of the vine. . {Before savoring the aromatic spices leader says}: Baruch Atah YHVH, Elohaenu Melech ha-olam, borae meenay v'sameem. Blessed art Thou, O YHVH our God, King of the universe, who creates divers spices. . Holding the fingers in the light of plaited candle leader cont.: {The three braided candle reminds us of the L-rd, Three Lights, yet burning as One.} Baruch Atah YHVH, Elohaenu Melech ha-olam, borae m'orae ha-aesh. Blessed art Thou, O YHVH our God, King of the universe, who creates the lights of fire. . Pass the Spices; then leader continues... . {Besides the sweetness of Shabbat, the spices also remind us of when the women went to Yeshua's tomb with spices, early on the first day of the week. [Luke 24:1]} Baruch Atah YHVH, Elohaenu Melech ha-olam, hamavdeel bayn kodesh l'chol, bayn or l'choshech bayn Yisrael la-ameem, bayn yom hashvee-ee l'shaeshet y'may ha-ma'aseh. Baruch Atah YHVH, hamavdeel bayn kodesh l'chol. Blessed art Thou, YHVH our God, King of the universe, Who makes a distinction between the holy and the profane, light and darkness, Israel and the nations, the seventh day and the six days of labor. Blessed art Thou, YHVH who makes a distinction between holy and profane. HA-MOTSEE: {The rows/stripes of holes in the matsah, reminds us of,...by His stripes we are healed, and,...look on Me Whom they pierced; Is.53:5 & Zech.12:10} {all sing}: Baruch Atah YHVH, Elohaenu Melech ha-olam, ha-motsee lechem, {matsah}, min ha-arets. Blessed art Thou, YHVH our God, King of the universe, who brings forth bread, {matsah}, from the earth. THE LORD'S SUPPER: The Lord Yeshua on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread, [matsah], and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take eat, this is My Body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same manner He also took the cup after supper saying, "This cup is the New Covenant in My Blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me. "For as often as you eat this bread,[matsah], and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes. Therefore whoever eats this bread,[matsah], or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the Body and Blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread,[matsah], and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we should judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. {From: 1 Cor.11:23-34} Prayer before Communion: Pass the Matsah and the Wine: {Put out flame in the spilt wine while saying...} Yeshua, the Light of the world, poured out His blood in atonement for us, and was buried in the bowels of the earth 3 days... He then rose early on the first day of the week, according to His Word. {OPTIONAL: Leader lights one more candle & continues...} {On Omer RaeSheet / First-Fruits: Leader lights one more candle & continues...} Baruch Atah YHVH, Elohaenu Melech ha-olam, ha-motsee ha-Or min ha-arets. Blessed art Thou, YHVH our God, King of the universe, who brings forth the Light from the earth. {all sing}: Behold, God is my Salvation [Yeshua], I will trust and will not be afraid, for the Lord my God is my strength and my song, He also has become my Salvation [Yeshua], for the Lord my God is my strength and my song, He also has become my Salvation [Yeshua]. Li, Li, Li.... . {all sing}: Hiney Mah Tov [Ps.133:1] Hiney mah tov u-ma na-im, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai. {repeat} Hiney mah tov u-ma na-im, Shevet achim gam yachad. {repeat} Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell in unity. DIDACHE: {The following is from the Didache, or the Teaching Of The Apostles, a first century Congregational-manual:} But as touching the communion thanksgiving give ye thanks thus. First, as regards the cup: We give Thee thanks, O our Father, for thy Holy Vine of Thy Son Yeshua; Thine is the glory for ever and ever. Then as regards the broken bread: We give Thee thanks, O our Father, for the life and knowledge which Thou did make known unto us through Thy Son Yeshua; Thine is the glory for ever and ever. As this broken bread was scattered upon the mountains and being gathered together became one, so may Thy Congregation be gathered together from the ends of the earth into Thy kingdom; for Thine is the glory and the power through Yeshua HaMashiach for ever and ever. But let no one eat or drink of this communion thanksgiving, but they have been immersed into the Name of the Lord; for concerning this also the Lord hath said: give not that which is holy to the dogs. And after ye are satisfied thus give ye thanks: We give Thee thanks, Holy Father, for Thy Holy Name, which Thou has made to tabernacle in our hearts, and for the knowledge and faith and immortality, which Thou has made known unto us through Thy Son Yeshua; Thine is the glory for ever and ever. Thou, Almighty Master, did create all things for Thy Name's sake, and did give food and drink and eternal life through Thy Son. Before all things we give Thee thanks that Thou art powerful; Thine is the glory for ever and ever. Remember Lord, Thy Congregation to deliver it together from the four winds - even the Congregation which has been sanctified - into Thy kingdom which Thou has prepared for it; for Thine is the power and the glory for ever and ever. May grace come and may this world pass away. Hosanna to the God of David. If any man is holy, let him come; if any man is not, let him repent. Maran Atha. Amaine. {But permit the prophets to offer thanksgiving as much as they desire.} ==================================================================== The prior is the time spoken of in Scripture when the disciples met together to break bread in the evening, where Paul spoke till midnight. It was the time when the 1st Century believers met for Havdalah, the closing of Shabbat. There is some speculation that first century Messianic Believers wrote part of this service as we now have it. The time would be after sundown on Saturday, which according to the Jewish calendar, would be the beginning of the first day of the week, and the closing of the Shabbat. Shalom min Yeshua HaMashiach. |
