        Ang paggawa ng tokwa ay nagmula pa sa Tsina noong higit 2,000 libong taon na ang nakalilipas at ito ay napadako lamang sa bansang Hapon noong lamang 700 taon at naging tanyag lamang nang sumapit ang 1500 taon makalipas ipanganak ang Kristo.

        Nakarating ang tokwa or tofu sa Estado Unidos noong lamang 1800 nang dalhin ito ng mga intsik para sa kanilang pagkain na sila ay maging manggagawa ng riles ng tren.

        Hindi agad ito nakarating sa pamilihan ng Amerika hanggang noong lamang taong 1958 sa Boys Market sa Los Angeles at sila ang naging una rito. Sa Pilipinas, ang tokwa ay naging pagkain rin ng mga Pilipino noon pang 1600, kauna-unahan sa mga bansa sa timogsilangan.

   Ang paraan ng paggawa

AIY Trading  		  1.  Ibabad ang mga buto ng soya sa tubig na mas marami ng tatlong ulit at hayaan sa buong magdamag.

    Ihanda ang coagulant. Paghaluin ang suka at tubig. Mas marami ng apat na ulit ang tubig kaysa suka. Halimbawa: 1/4 na tasa ng suka at 1 tasang tubig (Huwag munang ihalo sa mga buto ang tubig at suka. Itabi muna ang coagulant)
     
   2.Ito ang hitsura ng binababad na mga buto ng soya
     
   3.Alisin ang halong tubig sa mga buto at palitan ng kumulong tubig at ilagay sa blender ( Mas mainit ang tubig mas madaling madurog mahalo ang mga buto)
     
   4.Gilingin ang mga buto

  • Isalin ang mga nadurog na buto sa kaserola o kaldero at pakuluan ito.

  • Haluin ang pinagsamang durog na mga buto at tubig ng tuloy-tuloy.
  • Matapos kumulo, hinaan kaagad ang apoy at haluin pa rin ng walang patid
     
   6.Matapos ang (5) limang minuto, isalin ito sa isang lalagyan na may telang salaan at salain ang soya milk o ang gatas nito.
     
   7.Pigain ang telang salaan upang makuha lahat ang gatas.
     
   8.Ibalik sa kalan ang nasalang soya milk at pakuluan ulit ito ng unti-unti.
  • Patayin ang apoy kung kumulo na ang soya milk.

  • Idagdag ang kalahati ng 'coagulant' at haluin ng unti-unti. Takpan ang kaserola o kaldero at maghintay ng limang minuto.
   9.Tignan uli ito at alamin kung naghihiwalay na ang nabuong soya milk o 'tofu' sa ibabaw.
   10.Ulitin ang paglalagay ng coagulant at haluin ng dahan-dahan.
  • Takpan at ulitin ang paglalagay ng coagulant hanggang sa mabuo na lahat ang "tofu'
  
   11.Ibuhos sa salaan ang namuong tofu upang mahiwalay sa hindi.
  
   12.Hayaan ng ilang sandali.
  
   13.Ang tofu na nahiwalay na sa hindi.
  
   14.Ang tofu.
  
   15.Ihanda ang hulma ayon sa gustong sukat. Ibabad sa tubig ang tofu matapos matanggal sa hulma
