Resha Sled Dog Equipment
Well I have gone and took the plunge! There is a dog sled in my kitchen and I could not be happier! Now not only am I one step closer to living my dream of dog sledding across the Yukon seeing the Northern Lights - I now have a way to do the winter wilderness camping that I crave.
Everything I got, from the second hand beginners sled to the harnesses and collars came from Resha Sled Dog Equipment (with whom I am not affiliated). I can not say enough about Resha and Jim at Resha. Jim is very knowledgable. Not only that but he was kind and patient with my dogs and in the face of my ignorance as well.
Although the sled - which Jim made - has not been run in snow by me it did survive the trip from Waterford, PA to Buffalo, NY on the top of the car so I know that it is sturdy! It also
reassembled with ease. As soon as we get some snow I will have the sled out there.
I am so happy with the semi-slip collars I could pee myself. My dogs used to break collars breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had to switch to the German pinch collars -with prongs up most of the time- because they were the only things around here that would not break. The dogs were instantly comfortable with the light weight of the semi-slip and I am much more confident knowing that I have a nearly unbreakable collar. If you have a dog you need this collar.
As I prepare for my first back-packing trip on the AT in march I will be getting the dogs' packs from Resha.
After that I look forward to carting in the spring too.
All in all I am very pleased with the dry and wet mushing and back-packing equipment that I got, and plan to get from Resha. I will update you on my mushing and camping adventures as they unfold!
