PROMINENT  ROCKET  SCIENTIST  AND
ASTRONAUTS  BELIEVE  IN  THE  CREATOR  GOD

Astronaut and U.S. Senator John Glenn noted "the orderliness of the whole universe about us," and that the galaxies were "all traveling in prescribed orbits in relation to one another."  He therefore asked: "Could this have just happened?  Was it an accident that a bunch of flotsam and jetsam suddenly started making these orbits of its own accord?"    He concluded: "I can't believe that. . . . Some Power put all this into orbit and keeps it there."  Rocket expert Wernher von Braun stated: "The natural laws of the universe are so precise that we have no difficulty building a spaceship to fly to the Moon and can time the flight with the precision of a fraction of a second.  These laws must have been set by somebody."   Indeed, the universe is so precisely organized that man can use the heavenly bodies as the basis for his timekeeping.  But any well-designed timepiece obviously is the product of an orderly mind that has the ability to design.  The Great Designer of the Universe is none other than the One True God Himself.

Our planet Earth is not only a beautiful "marble" in space as described by the astronauts who have seen it from their spaceships, but it is also the greatest of cosmological scientific marvels that confounds all our efforts to comprehend it.  Enclosed in its own bubble of atmosphere, the Earth manufactures and breathes its own oxygen, fixes its own nitrogen from the air into its own soil, and generates its own weather.

Astronaut Lunar Module Pilot Edgar D. Mitchell of Apollo 14 that landed on the Moon said, "My view of our planet was a glimpse of divinity."  In his book "To Rule the Night" astronaut Colonel James Irwin described his feelings when he saw the Earth during the outward bound flight of Apollo 15, "Seeing this has to change a man, has to make a man appreciate the Creation of God and the love of God."

Not too long after the Apollo 15 Mission, Colonel Irwin retired from N.A.S.A. and dedicated his life to serving God in the ministry until his death in 1991.  Astronauts are a very special breed of people.  By going into outer space they are able to observe and experience the magnificent handiwork of God.  The spacecrafts that transport them to their destinations are like mini planets with specially designed life-support systems.  No one in his right frame of mind would ever believe that all the equipment and components of the spacecrafts assembled by themselves by accident and by waiting billions of years.  Since there has to be a designer and manufacturer of the spacecrafts before they can ever exist, therefore it is not too difficult to believe in a God Who created the whole universe.

"By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible." (Heb. 11:3)

For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God." (Heb. 3:4)

OUR  EARTH  IS  WONDERFULLY  CREATED

Of all the planets in the solar system, only on Earth have scientists found life.  It is because Earth is sustained by very complex systems that provide light, air, heat, water and food, all in exquisite balance.  Among the many precise conditions vital to life on the Earth is the amount of light and heat received from the sun.  The earth gets only a small amount of the sun's energy.  Yet it is just the right amount required to sustain life. This is because the Earth is just the right distance from the sun - an average 93 million miles.  If the earth were much closer to the sun or farther away from it, the temperatures would be too hot or too cold for life.

As it orbits the sun once a year the earth travels at a speed of about 67,000 miles an hour.  That speed is just right to offset the gravitational pull of the sun and keep the earth at the proper distance.  If that speed were decreased, the earth would be pulled toward the sun and become scorched.  However, if Earth's orbital speed were increased, it would move farther away from the sun and could become an icy waste..
