FAITH

 

 

 

"The Apostle believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books and His Apostles. We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His Apostles." And they say: "We hear and we obey; (We seek) Thy forgiveness Our Lord and to Thee is the end of all journeys."

(Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 2:285)

Muslims believe in one unique, incomparable God; in the angels created by Him; in the prophets through whom His revelations were brought to mankind; in the Day of Judgment and individual accountability for actions; in God's complete authority over human destiny and in life after death.Muslims believe in a chain of prophets starting with Adam and including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elijah, Jonah, John the Baptist, and Jesus, peace be upon them. But God's final message to man, a reconfirmation of the eternal message and a summing-up of all that has gone before was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him) through Gabriel.

 

"It is those who believe and confuse not their beliefs with wrong that are (truly) in security for they are on (right) guidance."

(Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 6:82)

There are three conditions for our deeds to be accepted by Allah Almighty:

 

Belief: (Faith)

In Allah and affirmation of His Oneness

 

Qur'an:"Verily! Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic monotheism) and do righteous deeds, shall have the Gardens of Al-Firdaus (Paradise) for their entertainment." (Translation of the meaning, 16:107)

 

Sunna: "Say: I believe in Allah, and thereafter, be upright (i.e. consistent obedience to Allah and performing of good deeds).

 

Sincerity:

Which is to do deeds for Allah's sake only, neither seeking praise from fellow-beings nor to have repute among men.

 

Qur'an: "So, call you (O Muhammad and the believers) upon (or invoke) Allah making (your) worship pure for Him (Alone) (by worshipping none but Him and by doing religious deeds sincerely for Allah's sake only and not to show off and not to set up rivals with Him in worship" (Translation of the meaning, 40:14)

 

Sunna: "Whoever sincerely testifies: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah' shall enter Paradise" (Bukhari)

All deeds must be in accordance with the teachings of Allah’s Messenger.

 

Qur'an: "And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)..." (Translation of the meaning, 59:7)

 

Sunna: "whoever does deed (in religion) which our matter is not in accordance with, it is rejected.” (Muslim)

 

Ihsan (Perfection in Worship)

Qur'an: "Who sees you (O Muhammad) when you stand up (alone at night for Tahajjud prayer). And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers).” (Translation of the meaning, 26:218-219)

 

Sunna: "Ihsan (perfection in worship) is to worship Allah as if you see Him, (and if you cannot concentrate to that extent) yet truly He sees you." (Muslim)
