Why is the child on the street?
-To raise money.
-When his parents divorced, his father lleft him with his mother. She couldn't afford to pay for his school fees. She has no job and depends on her children.
-Life on the streets became tough as he was trying to raise money for his school fees. Things did not go as expected, so he decided not to go back to school and adopted street life.
Why has he stopped school?
-He stopped school when his parents divorced and was under his mothers care who couldn't afford to pay for his school fees.
-He stopped school in Grade 5 at Chiwala and Kalewa Primary School in 1999.
Problems faced in the street.
-Peer pressure.
-Being insulted by older people. >
-Chased at night by guards.
-Being introduced to bad habits such as smoking, beer drinking. If he refuses to do these things, then they are not allowed to beg or spent a night in town (from the elder boys).
-Working without being given money.
What does he want to do and be?
He wants to go back to school and become a respected person in the community.
-Help his family, especially his mother who is struggling to find money.
