Millionaire
Sir
Alex Ferguson goes on 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' and has reached half a
million pounds and is now facing the million pound question.
Chris
Tarrant asks him "For one Million Pounds Alex Ferguson, what bird does not
live in a nest? Is it a) A Thrush, b) A Sparrow, c) A Cuckoo or d) A
Blackbird?"
Ferguson
looks at the floor and winces, "that's a tough question" he mutters to
himself "I think it could be the Thrush but I'm not sure" "You
can still phone a friend" said Chris Tarrant,
"Aye, Ill use it" said Ferguson,
"Who do you want to phone" asks
Tarrant
"I think I'll phone David Beckham"
"OK, I'll dial the number". The phone
rings three or four times and a squeaky voice answers "Hello?"
"Hello
David, Chris Tarrant here, I have Alex Ferguson with me in the studio and he has
won half a million pounds and needs a bit of help with the million pound
question. The next voice you hear will be his and you have thirty seconds to
give him an answer"
"OK " say's Beckham.
"David, Alex here, what bird does not live
in a nest? Is it a) A Thrush, b) A Sparrow, c) A Cuckoo or d) A Blackbird?"
asks Ferguson.
"I
know that one boss, it's a Cuckoo"
"Are
you sure David?" says Ferguson
"100%
certain boss, no doubts at all" replies Beckham.
"Thanks
David" and puts the phone down.
"So
what's your final answer Alex" asks Tarrant
"I'm
taking David's advice and saying it's c) A Cuckoo
"Sure
it's your final answer"
"Aye,
It's my final answer Chris.
After
a short pause, Chris Tarrant looks at Alex Ferguson and say's teasingly "If
you'd have answered a) A Thrush - it would have been the wrong answer, but you
answered c) A Cuckoo and you have won a million pounds" The audience go
mental, the music strikes up, golden confetti falls from the studio ceiling and
the third ever million pound winner on the programme is Sir Alex Ferguson who
takes his cheque amid the uproar in the studio.
The
next day back at the training ground, Ferguson goes rushing over to David
Beckham to thank him for helping him win the million, "That's all right Guv,
happy to have been able to help" said Beckham.
"Tell
me David", said Ferguson, "How do you know so much about birds that
you were able to give me the correct answer to that question and be so sure it
was correct?"
"It
was easy Guv" say's Beckham, "Even Brooklyn knows that Cuckoos live in
clocks!"
