First and foremost, to be considered for this page, the tip must be non-toxic, and second of all, it must work! Feel free to try any or all of the tips you see below. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, submit them to [email protected]. Happy cleaning
The Green Life
Toilet - Pour one cup of Borax into the bowl and let it sit overnight. In the morning scrub and flush. If you still have stubborn stains, repeat again but add 1/4 cup of white vinagar with it. Drains - to keep drains from clogging, periodically pour one cup baking soda down the drain followed by one cup vinegar. Let it sit for approximately 15 minutes then rinse the drain with very hot water. If drain is still sluggish, you can repeat as necessary. Bathtub - Sprinkle a wet rag liberally with Borax and scrub the sides, bottem & tiles of your tub, then rinse. Hard water and soap scum will dissapear easily. *Bonus, use on the faucets at the same time to shine them.
The Bathroom
*for porcelain toilets - if you have hard water build up or otherwise very difficult stains, use a natural pumice stone, they are in the cleaning product section of your grocery store.
Countertops, pans & stovetops - Spray/squirt lemon juice at full strength, let it sit for five minutes and wipe away. Lemon juice cuts grease and fights bacteria. *Bonus, has a great clean scent. Dishwasher - add distilled, white vinegar to your dishwashing cleaner for an added boost and shiny, clean dishes.
The Kitchen
Windows & Mirrors - mix one cup distilled white vinegar to one gallon warm water and wipe away. This mixture leaves your windows clean, streak-free and, as a bonus, vinegar is an "odor-eater", perfect for the bathroom. Mirrors - for in-between touch ups, use a clean, unused black board eraser. It will "erase" smudges and get rid of lint and dust.
