On the E 79 from Sofia to Melnik. This bridge is near the town of Dupnitsa.

Odd thing through the car window...

The birding team.

East off the road you can see the mountain tops of Pirin.

Early AM in the town of Melnik itself. The birdwatching begins.

The rising sun shines over the Melnic sandstone pyramids.

So...where's that trail?

Looking at some invertebrates on the bark of a tree.

Looking down at the Subalpine Warbler!

Nice view!

On a slope.

Where wine comes from.

Spotting Kestrels.

  The Melnik Pyramids.
  Looking at...erm.. something.
  Razor-shaped.
Down in the foothills of the pyramids walking along gullies is easy.
These shapes are actually quite famous in Bulgaria.
Summers can be very hot around here.

The Rozhen Monastery.

Food!

You can get nice cold water inside the Rozhen Monastery.

Going down towards Melnik at the end of the Saturday birding.

Now, where to next?!
