How to beat a traffic ticket.
I am reproducing this information from memory so don't fault me on it. I am not a lawyer. If you need a lawyer hire one.
The path to beating a traffic ticket starts along side the road. Never admit to the offense. Don't have to lie to deny it, but never admit it. For instance. If an officer asks if you know how fast you were going, never lie if you wer actually speeding, but you can answer politely with an evasion like, "I half to assume that it was faster than the listed speed limit since you stopped me," or, "Gee, I didn't think I was going all that fast officer. How fast do you think I was going." You could even go so far as to say, "The last time I glanced at the speedometer I was doing right about speed limit." If you try the, "I know officer, I ran a stop sign back there. I am sorry." You just admitted to it. If the cop wants to right you up there is no way you will ever get out of the ticket.
Always be polite. If you get pissed at the cop and take it out on him you will get a ticket. In fact he may take a little extra time to see if he can find anything else to cite you with. I attended a youth law enforcemtn traing camp at ALETA (Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy) about twenty years ago. When I was there Captain Hutchinson told us if you want to mess with somebody know your vehicle code because there isn't a vehicle on the road that you can't find something wrong with.
By not admitting a violation, but being polite and cooperative a police officer will often cut you some slack right there on the spot and let you off or give you a warning instead of a citations.
Never ask for a ticket or demand a ticket. You will get one if you do. For instance. If you are in a hurry and you say, "I'm in a hurry. Just give me the damn ticket and let me go," you will get the ticket and the cop will take his/her sweet ass time about it.
Even if you feel you haven't a chance in hell of beating the ticket show at the appointed time on your ticket. I have heard that as often as a third of the time the cop doesn't show up. If you are there and the cop isn't the ticket is dismissed.
If you intended to fight the ticket in court. I strongly reccomend that you go voer every detail of what happened in your head as accurately and nonbiased as you can. Then as soon as possible right dwon everything that happened in detail including the layout of the area and any special details or circumstances. This gives you the advantage of having accurate information to work with.
This is the point were I have to let off. I reccomend that your next step be to contact an attorney. If you or your attorney feel that the ticket can't be beat then consider the options of driving school to remove the ticket. Moving violations can cost you a lot more than the fine in things like insurance fees etc...
I hope this helps you out.
