The keyhole race is a paired elimination race. Run it with paired elimination brackets. Two
riders line up with their front tires on the start line. On the start signal they race to the far end of
the track around the barrel and back to the keyhole chalk outline. They must enter through the
key way (lines leading up to the circle) and stop with their front tire on the circle. Riders are
disqualified if they miss the entry way, if they stop past the circle or too short. Or if their bike
falls down. Some people argue that as long as the contact patch of the front tire is within the
circle its ok if the bike falls down. This is an excellent race to run on hard packed dirt tracks. I
would think there would be a danger of high side accidents if this were run on a paved surface.
