How Yuma Chapter Inc funded the HOG Rodeo in Yuma.

Almost everybody who has a motorcycle event puts out flyers.  The more obvious places to put these are in motorcycle shops and biker bars.  Sometimes you can also e-mail the flyer to internet freinds and ask them to print out a few copies for the appropriate places in nearby cities and towns.

Flyers are a great resource.  They give detailed information on your event and provide a place that you can recognize and promote sponsors of your event.  We used this as a tool increase our traditional advertising budget.  We purchased a radio advertising package for the HOG Rodeo.  In exchange for putting the name of the radio stations on our flyers as event sponsors they doubled the number of radio spots for us.

Now we still had to pay for radio advertising.  We sold business sponsorships for the event.  A business sponsor would donate $100 to the event and in exchange we made a 2' X 8' sign for the business that we lined the hay bales of our track with and faced toward the spectators.  In addition we named all the event sponsors at the end of our radio spots.  For a hundred dollars each business was visibly recognized at the event, and they had their business named on the radio about 60 times.

The business sponship paid all of the advertising costs and part of the setup costs.  I'm not sure who in the club came up with the idea, but it definitely worked.
